I read an article today that really got me mad. At the start of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Oxfam has released a report on the world’s inequality of wealth. The headline was bad enough: the world’s richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 50% of the world’s population. That’s 85 people owning as much wealth as 3.5 billion.
85 individuals as wealthy as 3,500,000,000 people.
This inspired me to do something I’ve been meaning to do, but haven’t yet: make an infographic. I took a statistic that was slightly easier to represent, grabbed some clip art from OpenClipArt.org and fired up Inkscape.
Feel free to use, share, etc. Here’s a PDF or, if you like, the original SVG file. Credit for the data goes to Oxfam
